Apeejay Anand Art Workshop

34th Apeejay Anand Art Workshop:Young Voices for a Better Tomorrow

The 34th edition of the Apeejay Anand Art Workshop unfolded as a vibrant and meaningful celebration of creativity, awareness and hope. Hosted at Apeejay House, Park Street – Kolkata, the event brought together hundreds of young participants who transformed art into a powerful voice for change.

Organised under the aegis of Apeejay Schools, the workshop centred around the compelling theme: “The Water We Want – Every Drop Counts.” The theme served as an umbrella for artistic expressions addressing some of the most pressing global concerns—plastic pollution, overfishing, and climate change. Through thoughtful brushstrokes and imaginative storytelling, young artists explored the delicate relationship between humanity and water, reminding us that conservation is not merely a responsibility but a shared commitment.

What made the workshop truly heart-warming was the hopeful tone reflected in the artworks. While participants thoughtfully depicted environmental challenges, their creations also carried powerful messages of resilience and possibility. Rivers restored to clarity, oceans free from plastic waste, thriving marine life and communities united for climate action—these were not just drawings but visions of a sustainable future shaped by mindful individuals.

The presence of distinguished guests further enriched the occasion. Dr. Sayan Bhattacharya, Director of the Indian Museum, graced the workshop as Chief Guest, inspiring young minds with his encouraging words. The event was also honoured by the presence of Mr. Karan Paul, Chairman of Apeejay Surrendra Group and Ms. Priya Paul, Chairperson of Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels in India. Their support reaffirmed the Group’s long-standing commitment to education, culture and community engagement.

A special note of appreciation was extended to Marc Boudin, Director of Alliance Française du Bengale; Nandita Palchoudhuri, Consultant-Curator with Indian Folk Practices in the Visual Arts, Crafts & Performances and Sankha Banerjee, Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Assistant Professor at St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. Their esteemed presence added depth and artistic perspective to the day’s proceedings.

Beyond the colours and canvases, the workshop gently reminded everyone that meaningful change begins with individual action. Small steps—reducing plastic usage, conserving water at home, supporting sustainable seafood practices, planting trees, and spreading awareness—can collectively create a significant impact. The young participants beautifully captured this idea, demonstrating that even the smallest effort counts when guided by purpose.

The atmosphere throughout the event was filled with curiosity, collaboration and compassion. Teachers, organisers and volunteers worked together seamlessly, nurturing an environment where creativity could flourish. Watching young artists express concern for the planet while radiating optimism was a powerful reminder that the future is in thoughtful hands.

The 34th Apeejay Anand Art Workshop was more than an art event—it was a gentle yet powerful call to action. Through imagination and empathy, these young changemakers painted not just pictures, but possibilities for a cleaner, kinder and more sustainable world.
